Matt Family Orchard

Right outside The Woodlands is a place called Matt Family Orchard. Today, I was lucky enough to take a trip there with Cassidy and her Kindergarten class. We had a great time. We picked out pumpkins, sewed our own pumpkins, went on a tractor ride, and even got to eat lunch there. Not to mention that there was a great play area as well. The kids enjoyed riding the bus there, and really enjoyed the orchard. Cassidy's favorite part was the play area. The kids really got to stretch their legs.

Anyway, I am not going to ramble on in this post. Here are the pics...Enjoy!

Until next post.

The Houston Zoo

From Houston Zoo

This past weekend here in Houston, the weather was amazing. Not to hot, not to cold, just right. =-) With that being said, we decided to go to the Houston Zoo. They are currently renovating parts of the Houston Zoo, and should be done with a new exhibit, called Africa in December. But what they do have open is beautiful. It was "Boo at the Zoo" this past weekend, so everything was decorated great. They even had giant candy corns (one of my fav Halloween candy).

After seeing all of the decorations, we immediately went to see Toby the Red Panda bear. He was awake, and even now has a friend. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, I was taking it through the glass. (This first picture is what he really looks like.)

One of Cassidy's favorite animals are the flamingos. They are definetly funny little birds. But they are pretty.

We even saw baby flamingos, did you know they aren't pink?

Another fun animal we saw was a stork. I don't know if I had ever seen one before. They are pretty cute in their own way.

The elephants were in their enclosure, and we got to see the new babies that have recently been born. Baylor and Tupelo. Tupelo weighed 273 pounds and was born October 3rd. Baylor was born May 4th. Anyway, they were adorable. Sorry the pictures aren't great, but we were taking them in their enclosure, with them behind their cages.

We also went to the sea lion show. Cassidy and Mike have always loved both seals and sea lions, and we can't ever come to the zoo without seeing the sea lion show. It is always a lot of fun.

We also saw a ton of other animals, so without further or do, here are all the other pics!

Aunt Jenny and Cousin Jordan

We enjoyed many celebrations for Cassidy this year, especially with cousin Jordan and Aunt Jenny. We met for lunch at Grimaldi's Pizza in The Woodlands. It is always great to catch up and see what's new in their worlds. They were so sweet and got Cassidy a couple of new games for her Leapster (which Mike and I got her for her birthday). She loved the games, and still loves them. Who would have thought that learning could be so much fun!

The Tale of Pumpkin Patch Adventures

This past Friday Mike and I decided that it is was time we had some outdoor fun. Of course we would choose the day in October that was at least 90 degrees (but at the time, we didn't realize it was going to be that hot.) Anyway, I had heard of a pumpkin patch that was outside of Houston about a half hour. Of course my wonderful husband agreed to head to Brookshire, Texas. Ever heard of it? I am not sure what it is really known for, and I can't remember if I have even ever been there, but that's where we were headed. We hopped in the car and took off. It took a little less than an hour, and when we pulled in off the highway, we realized it was huge. (In case you're wondering, here is the website to Dewberry Farm). http://www.dewberryfarm.com/
Once we got there, it was a decision, what do we do first? We decided that we would wait to pick our pumpkin until later, and decided to walk around. We headed to The Cackle Palace where we saw singing chickens. Cassidy LOVED the singing chickens.

Then we headed over to the Golden Goat Bridge to check out the goats, and even got to feed them.

After we feed the goats, we headed over to Fort DewHickey and checked it out as well. Cassidy loved climbing around that.

We couldn't pass up Hay Mountain. Cassidy thought it was great that she could hold onto a rope and swing. (Although she wasn't really interested in jumping in the hay).

We were able to hop on the Corn Barrel train and ride around the pasture. Apparently, it's the longest barrel train in Texas.
.
Once we finished the train ride, we headed over to the barns where you could pet the animals. There were certainly a lot of cute animals. We saw pigs, horses, baby calves, and even little chicks!

Last but certainly not least, we couldn't miss the Pig Races. I think this was Cassidy's favorite part, and mine too. It was so funny to see the pigs take off running around the track. I was even able to get a video of it. (Although my computer doesn't want to post it right now =-) ! Guess ya'll will just have to wait!

We did have a good time, but I think next year we will stick around our house and go to a pumpkin patch close by. I think the drive was further than we would like to go. Until next post.

Cassidy's 5th Birthday with Gammy and Papa

For Cassidy's 5th birthday, we went to visit Gammy and Papa. It is not a far trip, literally just around the corner from our house. Cassidy was so excited to see them, and them her as well. It's amazing the older I get, and now that I have a child, when I come into my Mom and Garth's house, the first person they want to see is Cassidy...go figure! I want to as well when I come home. Anyway, off of the tangent. So we stopped by Gammy and Papa's so they could hear all about Cassidy's party, and she could also open her gifts from them.

Gammy loves to read to Cassidy, and they will climb into a chair together and sit and talk and read for hours. Of course this wouldn't be any different, even with presents waiting to be opened. Cassidy ran to her room at Gammy and Papa's house and picked out a book, climbed in Gammy's lap and the read. They read about manners. It was really cute. (On another note, Cassidy had makeup on from Sweet-N-Sassy, I would not let her out of the house normally with that much! I promise!)

Fun in the park

A couple of Saturdays ago, we decided that we needed to get out and get some fresh air. So, we headed to a local park in The Woodlands. Cassidy had been eyeing this particular park, and Mike wanted to practice some basketball, and they have a court. So we hoped in the car and went out there. I brought my camera, as it is attached to my hip, and tried to get some shots. Not all of them were great with both Mike and Cassidy moving a lot but, I did get this one of Cassidy. This was before she turned five, but it still counts as part of her five year old photo shoot. What do you think?

Until next post.
