This past Friday Mike and I decided that it is was time we had some outdoor fun. Of course we would choose the day in October that was at least 90 degrees (but at the time, we didn't realize it was going to be that hot.) Anyway, I had heard of a pumpkin patch that was outside of Houston about a half hour. Of course my wonderful husband agreed to head to Brookshire, Texas. Ever heard of it? I am not sure what it is really known for, and I can't remember if I have even ever been there, but that's where we were headed. We hopped in the car and took off. It took a little less than an hour, and when we pulled in off the highway, we realized it was huge. (In case you're wondering, here is the website to Dewberry Farm). http://www.dewberryfarm.com/
Once we got there, it was a decision, what do we do first? We decided that we would wait to pick our pumpkin until later, and decided to walk around. We headed to The Cackle Palace where we saw singing chickens. Cassidy LOVED the singing chickens.
Then we headed over to the Golden Goat Bridge to check out the goats, and even got to feed them.
After we feed the goats, we headed over to Fort DewHickey and checked it out as well. Cassidy loved climbing around that.
We couldn't pass up Hay Mountain. Cassidy thought it was great that she could hold onto a rope and swing. (Although she wasn't really interested in jumping in the hay).
We were able to hop on the Corn Barrel train and ride around the pasture. Apparently, it's the longest barrel train in Texas.
.
Once we finished the train ride, we headed over to the barns where you could pet the animals. There were certainly a lot of cute animals. We saw pigs, horses, baby calves, and even little chicks!
Last but certainly not least, we couldn't miss the Pig Races. I think this was Cassidy's favorite part, and mine too. It was so funny to see the pigs take off running around the track. I was even able to get a video of it. (Although my computer doesn't want to post it right now =-) ! Guess ya'll will just have to wait!
We did have a good time, but I think next year we will stick around our house and go to a pumpkin patch close by. I think the drive was further than we would like to go. Until next post.
