Interstate 45 North

Yesterday morning, Mike and I hoped in the car and drove north up interstate 45 to Dallas. We headed there to see my grandparents Grandmommy and Poppy. My grandparents are ninety and ninety-one years old, and just up until the middle of last year were living on there own in a home on a golf course. I tell you that because they just recently decided they needed to move into a Senior living facility, and are having the time of their lives. They have more activities than you can imagine, and have made more friends than they know what to do with. We headed that way, because I feel like I am one of the most blessed people I know. I am lucky that at the age of thirty-four to still have a set of grandparents that are doing well.

We also had the opportunity to have a family reunion thanks to my Aunt Carrie and Uncle Brad letting us stay at their house. We saw my two cousins and their family for dinner last night. We enjoyed catching up.

Anyway, we are back now, and are trying to get motivated to get into the grove for school/work tomorrow. I can't believe that Monday is here again. It seems like just last week we had a Monday, oh wait, I think we did!

Well, enough chit chat for today, I have laundry piled up, and guess I should figure out what my child is going to eat for dinner.

Enjoy the pictures until next post!

Schilleci's New Orleans Kitchen

As I sit here on the couch, I am watching little missy busy playing with toys, still in her pajamas at noon. (Although she just asked if she could change into daytime clothes). We have had a wonderful weekend just the three of us. On Friday, Cassidy had a school holiday, so just the two of us hung out. I don't even remember what all we did. I don't even think we left the house. On Friday evening, Cassidy went to Parents Night Out (PNO) at her school. She had been going back and forth on whether she wanted to go, but had a great time once she was there. So, Mike and I had an unexpected date night. We were trying to figure out what we could do, or where we could go to dinner. He told me about this new restaurant that he had eaten at for lunch with his boss one day. I asked him the name of it, and he could not remember, but he said it was amazing. So, I trusted him and away we went. When we got to the restaurant it was packed. We walked in and I looked down at the front door mat. It said Schilleci's New Orleans Kitchen.

I looked over at Mike and said,
"How funny, I grew up with a girl named Audrey Schilleci."
He laughed and said, "Wouldn't it be funny if it was the same Schilleci Family."
About that moment, I looked up and saw Mrs. Schilleci. I smiled and told her our name and that we needed a table for two. I then asked, "Are you Mrs. Schilleci? Audrey Schilleci's Mom? She responded with a yes, and I said, I'm Shelley Swartz(my maiden name). She smiled and she remembered me.

Anyway, once I realized that they owned the restaurant, so many childhood memories came flowing back. It was like I was seven years old again going over to their house to have a sleepover with my friend Audrey.

So now that I have given the background on how we found Schilleci's, on with the food. If you are in The Woodlands, Texas, and are in Market Street, look up Shcilleci's New Orleans Kitchen. You will not be disappointed. It is some of the best New Orleans food I have ever had. The gumbo was amazing! It is a smaller venue, so make sure if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night that you make a reservation. They are also open for lunch! The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very nice as well.

Check it out!

My Sister's visit

I had blogged about my sister and her family coming in town in December, but I was a bad blogger and only got one picture up. With that being said, I just got through, finally, editing the remainder of pictures from their visit. Boy did we have fun. We rode the Metro train, went into downtown, saw Williams tower, went to the kids party for my work, ate lots of good food (cooked by my Mom), and had some good play time.

Boy do I miss my sister, as I always do. I can't wait to see her again!

Enjoy some of the pictures, and let me know what you think!

Until next post!

House Divided

Tonight we get to see her....

**Thanks to Texas A&M website for the above picture**

It's the Championship game, and we have a divided house....wanna know why?

We have been invited to go over to our friend’s house to watch the game tonight…I will be the first to tell you however, they are LSU Tiger fans. They are from Louisiana, and just as we have ties to Texas A&M, they are all for the Tigers. It could get a little crazy tonight, so wish us luck…the game starts at 7:00 CST on Fox. I live with a Texas A&M Aggie, we bleed Maroon (sorry for my Longhorn friends, you don’t have to read this post if you can’t).

So if you don’t have any plans, then tune in and watch the Fightin’ Texas Aggies!

Gig’em Aggies!

Hopefully I will be posting on Saturday with good news...we will have to wait and see.

So, I figured out how to fix my blog...I know you are just as excited as I am. I started thinking about other people's blogs, and what makes them so special. I am going to be trying new things here and there, so please don't leave me, but tell me what you think. if you like it, let me know...

To start, I wanted to share some of our December happenings...
We had a lot going on from Thanksgiving until yesterday. We have been out of town, had family in town, seen Santa (numerous times), Christmas shopped, enjoyed Christmas morning, and enjoying New Years Eve are just amongst the few things we have done. In fact, we haven't had a weekend of nothingness since Thanksgiving. Although it has been a little crazy, I would not have it any other way. It has been a blast.

Here are a few pictures from the past month...enjoy!

Baking Christmas Cookies(of course we had to be dressed up for the occasion)

Cassidy's School Class Christmas Party(it was wear your favorite pj's)

Aunt Shannon, Uncle Blayne and Ami's Visit from Denver ( I had to throw in a couple from this visit...the girls had a blast!)

Cassidy had a ballet recital at school

We hung out at the park and played with sidewalk chalk on the driveway.

And that was just to name a few things. What did you do this December other than normal Christmas traditions?

Until next post!

A mini photo shoot

I love taking pictures, in fact it is my passion, my hobby, and sometimes, makes me a little money on the side. I always seem to get a negative reaction however from Cassidy when I say, "Hey, can I take some pictures of you?" It usually has an eye roll, followed by, "But Mommy I really don't want to have a picture taken of me." Which then I follow with, "But Daddy would love to see a pretty picture of you, and if you do, I will get you a prize." And that is usually what makes it happen. Anyway, we are off on Christmas break, and while Daddy is working, we have been finding things to do. Yesterday, Cas wanted to go to the park and play a little. I figured it would be a good idea to get out of the house, and enjoy some nice weather. Glad we did, because today I woke up to rain and overcast skies.

Anyway, back to the park. We have hundreds of parks around the area we live in, but which one do you think my munchkin wanted to go to? Our subdivision park. I was o.k. with it since it is close, and if the weather got bad, we could hurry home, but it always makes me laugh. It is probably the smallest, and not the prettiest park close to us. Anyway, we headed to the park, and were having a great time. Cassidy let me take some pictures of here, although she did finally ask if I would put my camera away and really play with her. Which all of you will be proud to know I did. We played for a long time, and then, I told Cas it was time to go. She begged to go down the slide one more time, and that is when it happened...she scraped her back all up, and was bleeding.

We rushed home so I could asses the damages, and after a little hydrogen peroxide, and some Littlest Pet Shop band-aids we were on the mend.

I guess the good thing about the whole trip is that I got to spend some wonderful quality time with Cas, and I did get some good pictures (before our little accident).

Let me know what you think of them...
